Glock 19 Or 19x - On January 2nd, 2018, at exactly 9:00 a.m. ET, Glock announced its latest arrival, the Glock 19X. And since its release on the 22nd of the same month, it has received a lot of mixed comments. Before we get into the Glock 19X Gen 5 comparison, it's important to understand why the 19X was designed.
The G19X pistol is a commercial version of the Glock MHS that was designed to meet the US Army's order evaluation for a modular pistol system. In other words, the model was developed to compete for the US Army contract that Glock almost won. The only difference between the Professional and Army versions is that the G19X does not include a manual thumb safety.

The G19X comes in a standard Glock case, but in a different Desert Tan color called Coyote after Glock. The gun has one standard magazine for 17 rounds and two extended magazines for 19 rounds. Also included are four additional backstraps that you can add to the standard grip, which is the smallest backstrap. The original design of the Glock didn't really affect the overall design, but there are some notable changes. For the most part, the G19X has a slightly unusual design, with a G19-length slide and a G17-length frame, and of course the Desert Tan (coyote) color. Like a cooler more compact version of the Colt Commander.
Aside from slide length, the G19X and G19-5 share many other similar features. Both have the same dual recoil springs, and the barrel is called the GLOCK Marksman Barrel, or GMB, which, compared to the Glock, offers more accuracy with an improved barrel crown and improved polygonal rifling. Both have the same trigger weight, have ambidextrous slide locks, are pretty much the same internally, and both have no finger grooves, which is a significant improvement over the Gen 4s.
The black melonite finish of the G19X that comes with the nPVD coated slide looks much better than the nDLC coated one. What really sets the G19X apart from the G19-5 and other Gen 5 pistols is the frame. It doesn't have that flared magazine that interfered with the G19-5's grip, and it also adds a unique lanyard loop that was specified by the military when Glock competed for the MHS contract. If you're not a fan of the cord loop, you can remove it. The magazine well is even better than the G19-5, and because it doesn't have the extra notch and flare on the edge of the magazine, the G19-5 magazine doesn't fit the G19X.

When it comes to performance, you should go for the G19X. Its 17+1 magazine well frame offers plenty of room for a firm grip that fills your hands very well. Those with larger hands will find the G19X to be the better model in the gun series, giving you a more comfortable grip. This results in improved overall balance, better handling and thus better accuracy compared to the G19-5.
Why most people have issues with the G19X is the extra half inch of grip bezel. It can be a bit difficult to perform as a concealed carry weapon, but you have to keep in mind that the G19X was intended for combat. Even at the shooting range, the luxury of an additional 2-round capacity is a luxury you shouldn't give up.
In the end, it all depends on you. The Glock 19X is a very solid piece of hardware and your decision to buy it should depend on what you want to use it for. If you're going to be shooting thousands of rounds at the range four to five times a week, this is a great choice. It is also a reliable piece if you want to use it to protect your home. Or maybe you want to add it to your firearms collection! If you keep the weapon after concealment, the G19 Gen 5 may be more suitable. Conversely, the shorter slide of the G19X can be perfect for the appendix carry option.

Why I Purchased A Glock 19x
Personally, I've had my eye on the Glock 19X since it was introduced to the already very saturated semi-auto pistol market. Frankly, Glock and its many generations of "perfections" have done quite a bit with pistol sizes and calibers to fill this market.
I was already intrigued by the G19X back then, but never really felt compelled to buy one of these crossovers. Fortunately, these days I'm in the privileged position of being able to test, so when one arrived I jumped at the chance to take a used G19X for a spin.
I'll spare those who want a quick read by saying this is not my new gun. But I will also add that after testing this rifle over the last two months I have confirmed at least some of my suspicions - it shoots like a Glock. Looks like a Glock. But it is unlike any other Glock I have owned.
I wouldn't consider myself a Glock aficionado by any standard, but I can appreciate the functionality, simplicity and prestige of Glock's main duty and carry pistols. I had – and usually still have – my personal Glock 19 Gen4. This is a great gun, although the 22 degree grip angle is not my favorite and some people hate the finger grooves. If you're one of those people, the Glock 19 Gen5 has your name on it, and it's available for a great deal.

For me, the old G19 only works for range visits and my EDC needs. It doesn't have to be sexy to work. But there was something about the Glock 19X Hybrid that always left me scratching my head and wondering if I was carrying a real Glock. After a little testing, I can finally say that the itch is cured.
While this is not my new gun, I am interested. The G19X pulls some of the weight of the gun back into the bottom of your hand and more with your thumb – or the Poleax if you're trying to impress your friends for no good reason. It also adds the capacity of the Glock 17 with 17 rounds, increasing your pistol to carry two more rounds compared to the Glock 19. vehicle.
The balance is generally better on the Glock 17 or Glock 19 versions. However, this balance means that I would consider it a significant cost in additional grip length. I rarely have to consider the length of my barrel or slide as a limiting factor when concealing a firearm for everyday carry. Seated carry is one of those few exceptions, and the Glock 19X handled it pretty well. Grip length, on the other hand, is where bits of thumb can make or break a gun for everyday carry.
