McCarty works with the Patriot Launchers and said the team will make him an even more valuable asset.
"If they need help with cables, I can stand by and help them," he said.

McCarty's unit is slated to be deployed this fall and with the hands-on training he learned at the workshop, he said he's confident he'll be able to put his skills to use, if needed.
"There will be a lot of Patriot equipment there, so I can help with the wire, whether it's laying, fixing or fixing the wires," he explained.
Having the entire 69th ADA Brigade's troopers go a long way in ensuring there are more troopers in the brigade qualified to handle fiber optic cables, McCarty said.
"It makes the brigade a lot better," he said. "We have better standards (and) ... you know everyone has the same certification."
